Adrenal gland – A variable intensity MCM3 immunostaining occurs in a fraction of adrenal cells

Aorta, media

Appendix, mucosa – A strong MCM3 immunostaining is seen in crypt cells of the appendical mucosa. Many lymphocytes are also positive

Appendix, muscular wall – Some smooth muscle cells exhibit a faint MCM3 staining. A moderate to strong MCM3 also occurs in some other cell types

       

Bone marrow – A strong MCM3 immunostaining occurs in the majority of bone marrow cells

Breast – A weak to moderate MCM3 staining occurs in many luminal cells

Bronchus, mucosa

Cerebellum (granule cell layer, white matter)

       

Cerebellum (molecular layer, Purkinje cell layer, granule cell layer)

Colon descendens, mucosa – A strong MCM3 immunostaining is seen in crypt cells

Duodenum, Mucosa – A strong MCM3 immunostaining occurs in duodenal crypt cells

Epididymis – A weak to moderate MCM3 staining occurs in most basal cells and also many principal cells of the corpus epididymis

       

Esophagus, squamous epithelium – Esophageal squamous epithelium exhibits a moderate to strong MCM3 immunostaining of suprabasal and basal cells

Fallopian tube, mucosa – MCM3 staining in a significant fraction of epithelial cells

Fat

Gallbladder, epithelium – The number of MCM3 positive cells is variable in the gallbladder epithelium

       

Heart muscle – A faint MCM3 staining can be seen in some heart muscle cells

Ileum, mucosa – A strong MCM3 immunostaining is seen in crypt cells of the ileum

Kidney, cortex – Only few cells show MCM3 immunostaining in the kidney

Kidney, medulla

       

Liver – A variable intensity MCM3 immunostaining can be seen in a small fraction of hepatocytes

Lung

Lymph node – Many lymphocytes are MCM3 positive. A particularly strong MCM3 positivity occurs in most cells of germinal centres and also in scattered individual cells of the interfollicular zone

Ovary, stroma – A faint MCM3 staining can be seen in ovarian stroma cells

       

Pancreas – A variable intensity MCM3 immunostaining occurs in a small fraction of pancreatic epithelial cells. The rate of positive cells is particularly low in islets of Langerhans

Parathyroid gland – A variable intensity MCM3 immunostaining can be seen in a fraction of parathyroideal cells

Parotid gland – variable intensity MCM3 immunostaining can be seen in a fraction of epithelial cells

Pituitary gland, anterior lobe

       

Pituitary gland, posterior lobe

Placenta (amnion and chorion)

Placenta, early – Many cells of the cytotrophoblast and a fraction of stroma cells show strong MCM3 staining

Placenta, mature – Cells of the cytotrophoblast and a fraction of stroma cells show strong MCM3 staining

       

Prostate – Only very few acinar cells show MCM3 positivity. MCM3 positivity rather occurs in basal cells

Rectum, mucosa – A strong MCM3 immunostaining is seen in crypt cells

Seminal vesicle

Sinus paranasales – MCM3 immunostaining occurs in a fraction of respiratory epithelial cells

       

Skin – In the squamous epithelium of the skin, suprabasal and (weaker) basal cell layers show a distinct MCM3 immunostaining

Spleen – Most lymphocytes of the white pulp are MCM3 positive. A strong MCM3 positivity also occurs in scattered individual cells of all compartments

Stomach, antrum – A strong MCM3 immunostaining occurs in mucous neck cells of the stomach

Stomach, corpus – A strong MCM3 immunostaining occurs in mucous neck cells of the stomach

       

Striated muscle – A weak to moderate MCM3 staining occurs in some skeletal muscle cells

Testis – Most spermatocytes are strongly MCM3 positive but mature sperms and probably also spermatogonia are negative

Thymus – A particularly strong MCM3 positivity occurs in most cells of the thymic cortex

Thyroid gland – A variable intensity MCM3 immunostaining can be seen in a small fraction of follicular cells in the thyroid

       

Tonsil – In the tonsil, a large fraction of lymphocytes is at least weakly MCM3 positive. A particularly strong MCM3 positivity occurs in most cells of germinal centres and also in individual cells of the interfollicular zone.

Tonsil, surface epithelium – The squamous epithelium shows a moderate to strong MCM3 immunostaining of suprabasal and basal cells. Many lymphocytes are also positive

Urinary bladder, muscular wall

Urinary bladder, urothelium – Only few urothelial cells show a MCM3 immunostaining

       

Uterus, ectocervix – The squamous epithelium shows a moderate MCM3 immunostaining of (mostly) suprabasal cells

Uterus, endocervix – Epithelial cells of the endocervix show a particularly low rate of MCM3 positive cells

Uterus, endometrium (pregnancy)

Uterus, endometrium (proliferation) – Almost all epithelial cells and a fraction of stromal cells are MCM3 positive

       

Uterus, endometrium (secretion) – The fraction of MCM3 positive epithelial cells is lower in the secretion phase

Uterus, myometrium – A faint MCM3 immunostaining can be observed in some muscle cells
