Background

This gene encodes a five transmembrane protein that functions as a major regulator of the innate immune response to viral and bacterial infections. The encoded protein is a pattern recognition receptor that detects cytosolic nucleic acids and transmits signals that activate type I interferon responses. The encoded protein has also been shown to play a role in apoptotic signaling by associating with type II major histocompatibility complex. Mutations in this gene are the cause of infantile-onset STING-associated vasculopathy. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2014]

Various whole cell extracts (30 μg) were separated by 10% SDS-PAGE, and the membrane was blotted with STING antibody (GTX134373) diluted at 1:1000. The HRP-conjugated anti-rabbit IgG antibody (GTX213110-01) was used to detect the primary antibody. Corresponding RNA expression data for the same cell lines are based on Human Protein Atlas program.

Antibody-beads conjugates were prepared by adding 2 μg of antibody to 500 μl of IP Lysis Buffer in a microcentrifuge tube, together with with 30μl of Dynabeads protein A- (for rabbit antibodies) or protein G- (for mouse antibodies) beads. Tubes were rocked for ~1 hr at 4ºC followed by two washes to remove unbound antibodies.
